We went 4th on the River

'Cuz I'm proud to be an Amerikitten!

We headed to the Quarter for “Go 4th on the River” last night. We walked around and saw some patriotism and then claimed our spot in Jackson Square above the amphitheater.

It was a great spot and we got some good pictures, but I was really surprised that the whole event wasn’t more overdone – like everything else in New Orleans is.

The entertainment was a little mediocre. We walked past one of the ‘stages’ where free music was planned – it was a little sad, small and tucked in a crevice between buildings. The Navy band was good, though.

Also, I was a little shocked at how short the fireworks show was – about 15 minutes. Also, when they called it “dueling fireworks” I was expecting more dueling and less the same show being shot off from two separate barges.

But it was still fun to be downtown with the crowds and the streetcar wasn’t too crowded. We got to see some Transformers too!
